THE PLACE TO BE PIERCED
Formerly on Cavenagh Street in Darwin, now piercing in a dedicated, private space in Cullen Bay, Lori has a longtime reputation for excellent service and quality in Darwin.

At what age can I get pierced?
Our age policy is as follows:
Five years old - first earlobes.
Ten years old - second earlobes.
Thirteen years old with parental consent - ear cartilage, nostril and septum piercings, eyebrows, navels (dependent on anatomy), tongue and lip piercings.
Sixteen years old -
ear cartilage, nostril and septum piercings, navels (dependent on anatomy), tongue and lip piercings.
Eighteen years old - nipple, genital, and surface piercings including microdermals, advanced/difficult piercings (cheeks, very technical cartilage projects - message for more information).
What piercing placements do you do?
Our senior piercer Lori has been piercing professionally since 1995 and is one of the most experienced specialist piercers in Australia. She regularly performs all piercing placements with the highest degree of skill and is happy to consult with you on whatever placement you'd like.
However, not all piercing placements are safe or will work on every body, so please contact us to discuss what you're after, especially for more unusual or advanced placements.
Some trendy piercings such as cheek or "dimple" piercings, for instance, are incredibly technically advanced to place and difficult (if not impossible) to heal cleanly, and Lori will not do them as a standard "walk-in" piercing - she will do a face to face consultation and book the piercing appointment after that time to allow a cooling-off period after discussing the risks. Horizontal tongue piercings ("scoops" or "snake eyes") are anatomically inappropriate, impossible to heal, will cause significant, permanent damage to your teeth and tongue, and Lori will not do them under any circumstances.

Aftercare and troubleshooting
Our aftercare advice definitely leans more towards keeping it simple - we recommend not touching or playing with your piercing, only cleaning it after washing your hands, and using mild, sterile saline wound wash to clean outside of the shower. Mild, unscented soap in the shower is perfect, just rinse your piercing thoroughly as a last step and always dry your piercing with a clean cotton bud or paper towel, not a bath towel.
We don't sell aftercare solutions of any type as we don't recommend them, and saline can be very inexpensively acquired at any chemist.

Children's ear piercing
Lori is happy to pierce the earlobes of children old enough to understand the procedure and give consent (usually age five or so) and generally look after their piercings. We do not pierce babies.
We want your child to have the safest, most enjoyable piercing experience possible with minimal pain, and only pierce with sterile, single use needles and implant grade jewellery to avoid issues with allergies. We do not use piercing guns for any procedures whatsoever.
Although the piercing is very quick, we strongly advise the use of topical numbing cream to make it as easy as possible for your child - see below for more info on numbing creams.
We prefer to book in children's earlobe piercings either very early or at the end of the day, when it's quieter in the studio, so as to make it as calm for your child as possible and minimally disruptive to other clients.

Piercing prices
Our piercing price structure is simple, ethical, and honest, with no hidden charges or surprises and no upselling of overpriced (and often harmful) aftercare products.
All piercing procedures are $40 plus the price of jewellery, with additional piercing procedures on the same person in the same sitting being half price (so a pair of piercings is $60 plus jewellery).
Standard high polish, implant grade titanium jewellery starts at $25 and goes up depending on jewellery style, gauge, and gem choice.
Jewellery options
We stock a range of safe, sterile, appropriate jewellery for most common piercings and will happily order in anything you like. All initial piercing jewellery is internally threaded or threadless, implant grade titanium, or 14k/18k gold. We stock a range of beautiful Swarovski and ethically lab-grown gem ends to add some sparkle to your life.
We also have borosilicate glass options for those who prefer to be pierced with discreet retainers for employment or educational requirements. We do not pierce with steel or cheap, plated jewellery.
Numbing creams and pain management
Piercing can be a bit uncomfortable for a moment or two, but we strive to make your experience as quick and painless as possible. Some clients choose to use topical numbing cream, which can be purchased inexpensively at any chemist. For maximum effectiveness, it needs to be applied thickly to the area and covered with an occlusive dressing (or cling wrap) for *two hours* before your piercing appointment - it will not be effective if not left thickly on the skin for a long enough period of time. We will remove the dressing and cream when we prep your skin for the piercing.
It is not at all dangerous when used as directed by the manufacturer and very effective when used properly, and will make your piercing experience as close to painless as possible! It is very safe, and a very popular choice for clients seeking nipple or cartilage piercings.
Cancellation policy
Cancellations MUST be made via email and with at least 24 hours notice. Cancellations will not be accepted via Facebook, Instagram, SMS, smoke signal, leaving us a voicemail, or any other way of communicating. You can use the form on this site to send us a message, that is an email.
If you cancel within 4 hours of your piercing appointment, your deposit is forfeited to compensate the artist. A new deposit must be paid when rebooking.
Exceptions to this policy will be rare and considered on a case by case basis to be granted to true, verifiable last-minute emergencies.
Payment options
We accept cash (but it's great if you have the correct amount, we don't always have change) and all Eftpos and credit cards, as well as Afterpay in-store. We NEVER add any surcharges or hidden fees to any payment option you choose.
We also sell eGift vouchers through Square, which never expire and can be an excellent way to prepay/save up for an indulgence, as well as making a thoughtful and excellent gift!
